No. 17 Volleyball Wins Seventh Consecutive Match to End Regular Season

CYPRESS, CA – The No. 17 Cypress College volleyball team (18-5, 13-3 OEC) wrapped up the regular season with a sweep of Santa Ana College on Wednesday's Sophomore Night in Gym II (25-19, 25-22, 25-17).

Sophomore Brianna Johnson tallied 20 kills in 29 attempts with 3 digs on her Sophomore Night. Freshman Kayla Owens and Khamis Berneker each added 7 kills. Owens added a team-high 4 blocks. Freshman setter Penina Wilder had another strong performance, notching 38 assists and 9 digs on the night.

The Chargers have been playing their best volleyball down the stretch, just in time for the 2017 CCCAA Playoffs. Cypress has come out on top in seven straight matches, sweeping opponents in four of their last five, on their way to a second place finish in the Orange Empire Conference.

The Lady Chargers will resume action in the opening round of the 2017 CCCAA SoCal Regional on Tuesday, November 21 at 6:00 pm. No. 4 Cypress will host No. 13 seed San Diego City College in Gym II. Tickets to the CCCAA postseason event are $12 for general admission and $8 for faculty, staff, students, and children.
