Women's Soccer Are Back to Back OEC Champs!

FULLERTON, CA- Cypress women's soccer (16-1-2, 11-1-2 OEC) traveled to Fullerton College in hopes of bringing back the OEC title. The Chargers clinched the OEC Championship on Friday afternoon after taking down the Fullerton Hornets 2-1 in an exciting match.

The tensions were high as the game started and it took a full half for both teams to settle in. The match was held scoreless well into the second half, until Chargers leading goal scorer, Brianna Cortez, found the back of the net in the 71st minute off a pass from Alyssa Villalobos. Fullerton would not go down easily as they answered with a goal of their own in the 74th minute.

Cypress was in need of an outright victory to secure the tie breaker over the Saddleback Bobcats. Brianna Cortez put the team on her back as she attacked the net in the 88th minute to break the tie. Sylvia Quintero would deliver the ball to Cortez to put the Chargers up 2-1. With the victory, Cypress became back to back OEC Champions for the first time since 2004.

The CCCAA So Cal Regional women's soccer bracket will be released on Tuesday, November 16th as the Chargers look towards making a run at a State Championship!
