Softball Knocks Off Rio Hondo (5-2) and Canyons (8-3)
Cypress – The Charger softball team (4-0) remained undefeated after beating both Rio Hondo (4-6-1) and Canyons (1-1-1) on Saturday.

Game 1 vs. Rio Hondo (W, 5-2)
The Chargers got on the board first with an RBI by Khailey Campos in the bottom of the first inning, and extended its lead to 4-0 in the bottom of the second. Taylor Pierce then hit her second homerun of the season in the bottom of the third inning to give Cypress a commanding 5-0 lead. The Chargers gave up two runs in the top of the fourth inning, but were able to hang on to stay unbeaten. Alejandra Guillen (1-0) led the team from the mound, pitching 5.2 innings while allowing only two runs. Taylor Ebner finished up the game, collecting her second consecutive save.

The Chargers got off to slow start, trailing 2-0 heading into the bottom of the third inning. They were able to rally and capture a 5-3 lead in the bottom of the fifth inning. Cypress followed that up with three more runs in the sixth inning, capped off by a Justice Walker homerun to put the game away. Walker had two hits, two runs, and two RBIs to help lead the Chargers to victory. Taylor Pierce (3-0) had another great game from the mound, allowing only two hits in 2.2 innings pitched.
