Cypress Men's and Women's Swim Take 5th Place at Riverside Invitational

RIVERSIDE, CA- Chargers swim competed at Riverside City College in an Orange Empire Conference meet on Friday, March 25th. Cypress finished in 5th place in both men's and women's competition.

Ethan Umpornpuckdi led the Cypress men as he competed in three events, finishing in the top four of all three races. Umpornpuckdi competed against 23 other swimmers in the 200 Y Breaststroke where he finished second place with a time of 2:09.75. He also finished second in the 200 Y Freestyle with a time of 1:44.68. Umpornpuckdi finished with a team high 49 points followed by Brandon Rubio with 33 and Sawyer Nering with 21. 

Marisol Narvaez continued her winnings ways finishing first in the 200 Y Breaststroke with a time of 2:42.19 and a third place finish in the 400 Y IM. Hanah Salazar followed Narvaez's 48 points with 40 points of her own, finishing third place in the 200 Y Breaststroke with a time of 2:57.71. Celinda Robles added a 2nd place finish in the Women's 200 Butterfly (2:50.16).

Coach Frisk Driscoll said, "We saw a lot of great racing today out of our squad. We put in a grueling week of training over Spring Break and we have come out the other side of it better than ever."

UP NEXT: That concludes regular season competition for the Chargers Swim & Dive team. OEC Conference Championships will take place at Riverside City College April 21-23.
