Cypress Women's Swim Takes 4th Place in OEC Opener

COSTA MESA, CA- Cypress Chargers Swim opened OEC comeptition on Friday, March 4th at Orange Coast College. The women's team placed 4th overall (259 pts) while the men's team finished 5th (197 pts). 

The women were led by Nicole Maslog, who finished first in the 500 Y Free and the 100 Y Fly. Marisol Narvaez finished in 3rd place in 100 Y Breaststroke and 5th in the 200 Y Medley. The Chargers sat comfortably in 4th place on the afternoon trailing Fullerton (336 pts) while leading Golden West (225 pts). 

Ethan Umpornpuckdi led Cypress on the men's side with a first place finish in the 500 Y Free. Umpornpuckdi also snagged 3rd place in the 200 Y Free finishing with a time of 1:49.35 and 3rd place in the 100 Y Breaststroke. Brandon Rubio finished 5th in the 100 Y Butterfly and the 200 Y Medley. The men's team trailed 4th place Riverside by 81 points who finished with 278.5. 

UP NEXT: Cypress Swim will take a road trip to Cuesta College for a two day event. The Chargers will compete on Friday, March 11th and Saturday, March 12th.
