Nicole Maslog Captures Cypress All-Time Record at Cuesta College Invitational

SAN LUIS OBISPO, CA- The Cypress Chargers Swim Team competed at the 44th Annual Cuesta Arena Swim Invite on March 11-12th at Cuesta College. Twenty teams throughout the state of California were in attendance where the Cypress Chargers women finished in 12th place and the men finished in 13th place.

The Cypress women's team scored a team total of 152 points, led by Nicole Maslog who competed in five events. Her standout performance was highlighted by a first place finish in the 1650 Y Free with a time of 19:27:33. Maslog put her name in the Cypress record books with a time of 5:13.68 in the 400 Y IM breaking the previous record held by Emilee Yates (2016) by over three seconds.

Chargers men's swim was once again led by Ethan Umpornpuckdi who finished first place out of 28 participants in the 400 Y IM with a time of 4:10.28. Umpornpuckdi also grabbed third place in the 200 Y Breast and fourth place in both the 1650 Y Free and 100 Y Breast. Brandon Rubio finished in fifth place in the 200 Y Fly with a time of 2:07.72.

UP NEXT: The Chargers will close regular season competition with an OEC meet on March 25th at Riverside City College.
