Cypress Golf Picks Up SoCal Regional Championship on their Way to CCCAA State Championship

VENTURA, CA- Cypress men's golf traveled to Ventura for the CCCAA Southern California Regional at Olivas Links GC on Monday, May 9th. The Chargers were able to squeak past the Saddleback Bobcats with a combined score of 733 to claim the Southern California crown.

The ten-team tournament ended how much of the Cypress golf season has gone so far - the Chargers and Bobcats fighting for first place. Saddleback's Arthur Hess and Ventura's Nick Burns carded the lowest scores of the day as they both finished with a 67 in round one of the tournament. Cypress was led by Bryan Urip who finished with a 69 in round two and led the team with a combined score of 142. The All-SoCal Team was made up of the six athletes with the lowest combined scores between the two rounds. The results are below:

  1. Hugo Amsallem, Canyons 137

  3. Bryan Urip, Cypress 142
  4. Denis Watson, Saddleback 143
  5. Steen Zeman, Ventura 143

UP NEXT: Coach Bedard and Cypress men's golf will make the trip to the Soboba Hot Spring GC on Monday, May 16th for the 36-hole State Championship. Cypress golf is the last team to bring home a team state championship (2019) and will look to repeat that feat in 2022.
