Chargers Take First in Season Opening Tournament

Lompoc, CA – Chargers golf opened up their season on Sunday, Jan. 30 with a two-day tournament at La Purisma Golf Course. The Chargers dominant performance earned them first place as they finished 11 strokes above the competition.

Leading the Chargers was Willis Panzarello, who tied as a first place medalist with 150 strokes and shot 73 on the second day, good enough for one-under par. Adam Naaman, Ivan Sablan, and Devin Schaffer each finished with 153 strokes with Sablan coming out with the best day of the tournament for the Chargers, finishing day two with a 72. Conor Watson carded a 160 and Bryan Urip finished with 167.

Out of 12 qualifying teams, the Chargers scored a team low 769 with the Canyons A and B teams following right behind with a 780. Canyons' Paul Hautbourg tied with Panzarello as a first place medalist with 150 strokes. Saddleback finished in fourth place with 782 and Reedley rounds out the top five with 789.

UP NEXT: The Chargers will head to the Eagle Classic on Wednesday Feb. 9 at 11 AM at Soboba Springs Golf Course.
