Former Assistant Coach and Athletic Director, Bill Pinkham, Selected as 2021 ABCA Assistant Coach of the Year

CYPRESS, CA- Cypress Chargers Assistant Baseball Coach, former Athletic Director, and Cypress Hall of Famer Bill Pinkham added another prestigious award to his resume as he was announced as the 2021 ABCA (American Baseball Coaches Association) Assistant Coach of the Year. 

The ABCA chose 11 Assistant Coach of the Year honorees from NCAA Div. I, II and III, NAIA, NJCAA Div. I, II and III and High School Div. I, II and III will be recognized on-stage at the 78th annual ABCA Convention in Chicago, Illinois, on Friday, January 7, 2022, in the clinic hall.

Coach Pinkham dedicated 36 years to Cypress College as a Veteran Assistant and Athletic Director. Over the years, he has helped send 31 catchers to four-year programs and has been a part of 5 CCCAA State Championships and 6 OEC Championships. After becoming an All-American catcher at the University of San Diego, Pinkham was drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays in the 2nd round of the 1981 MLB Amateur Draft. Pinkham was inducted into both the Cypress College Athletics and California Community College Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Fames in 2017.
