Riverside, CA. -- Cypress headed to Riverside Friday night with the intentions of clinching win number two in conference play. Instead, they ended up coming home with the loss and drop to 1-3 in conference play and 6-13 overall.
Riverside maintained the lead throughout the game but it wasn't until a little before eight minutes remained in the first half that the Tigers started to pull away with a comfortable lead. At the half they held a seven point advantage, 35-28.
Despite being led by David Gonzalez's 27 points, the Chargers were unable to mount a comeback in the second half and fell behind by as much as 18 points before the final horn sounded and the game became final at 75-58.
Other leading scorers for the Chargers were Kevin Barnes with eight points and three rebounds and Jesse Henderson-Lewis with six points and six rebounds.
The Chargers struggled shooting throughout the night going 28.3% from the field and 21.9% from behind 3-pt.
Cypress continues conference play as they return home to Gym II this Wednesday, Jan. 22, to face Saddleback at 5:30pm.
