CYPRESS, Calif. --- David Gonzalez from the Men's Basketball program has been named the December 29- January 5 "Charger Athlete of the Week".
Gonzalez made 20 three point baskets and averaged a remarkable 30.5 points per game throughout his three games played last week at the San Diego Mesa Tournament.
His most impressive performance came on December 30 vs. Grossmont College. Gonzalez caught fire and managed to hit 12 three pointers and go 8 for 9 from the free throw line. His incredible 50 point performance and 12 three's in a game both became new Cypress College basketball records.
Gonzalez is currently averaging 20.9 PPG on the season throughout 16 games played and has averaged 4.5 three pointers per game.
He is also shooting an outstanding 52% from the floor, 53.7% from 3-pt range and 88.9% from the free throw line so far in the 2013-14 season.
Gonzalez is now the first athlete at Cypress College to win two "Charger Athlete of the Week" awards with his first one coming back on November 12th of 2013.
