San Diego, CA. -- Although they only came away with one victory this weekend in the San Diego Mesa Tournament, Cypress sophomore guard, David Gonzalez (West Covina HS), shattered two Charger records. In today's final game, a loss against Grossmont, he scored 50 points, which broke the previous Cypress College record for most points in a game at 44. His scoring included 12 three point buckets which shattered the previous record for most three's in a game at 8. 

Gonzalez finished the tournament with 91 points over three games against East LA, San Diego Mesa, and Grossmont. With just one game left before they open Orange Empire Conference play, He also is on track to set the record for scoring average. So far this season he is averaging 21.9 points/game. He is shooting 54% from the floor, 56% from 3-pt, and 88.9% from the free throw line.
