Santa Barbara, CA -- The Chargers came away from the Santa Barbara tournament with one win and two losses, dropping their overall record to 3-8. 

In the first game of the tournament, Cypress faced off against Santa Barbara, the host team, and won a hard fought game 65-63. Leading the way for the Chargers was David Gonzalez who shot 6-7 from 3-pt and and 9-13 from the field for a total of 28 points. Jason Tran came off the bench with 12 points to help spur Cypress on to victory.

The win put Cypress on to face Victor Valley in the next game of the tournament

At the half against Victor Valley Cypress led by two, 32-30. However, in the second half Victor Valley outscored the Chargers 40-28 to come away with a 70-60 victory. Once again David Gonzalez led the Chargers in scoring with 21. Jarred Cook added 12 points while Mark Townes chipped in with 10.

With the loss the Chargers were paired up against Allen Hancock in the consolation game. 

The Chargers played Allen Hancock, the 20th ranked team in the state, close in the 1st half. At the break the game was tied, 42-42. The Chargers struggled to keep up in the second half and were outscored 44-33 resulting in the final score of 86-75. Jerred Cook led the Chargers going 5-7 from 3-pt with a total of 23 points. David Gonzalez had 21 while Jesse Henderson-Lewis put up another 12. Robby Weaver came off the bench to shoot 100% from both 3-pt and the field to score 11 points. 

The Chargers won't be back in action until after the holiday break when they head down to San Diego to play in the San Diego Mesa tournament. Their first game of the tournament is against East LA at 2:30pm on Dec. 28th.
