Chargers Close Out the 2021 Season Against OCC

CYPRESS, CA - The Cypress women's tennis team (2-8, 2-8 OEC) closed out their 2021 season against Orange Coast (9-0, 9-0 OEC) on Thursday afternoon after losing to the Pirates, 9-0.

The Pirates have been dominant all season and were looking to complete a perfect season when the Chargers took them on for their final match of the season on Thursday afternoon. Teammates, Victoria Gomes and Jayda Steele, faced the number one pair from OCC and showed improvement from Tuesday's match. Michaela Scott, Anna-Gabrielle Sanders, Kaylene Fabros, and Samantha Nogra battled in their singles play and showed significant improvement from the beginning of the season. Coach Matt Harris was really impressed with the team's effort, mental attitude, and overall performance and felt that they finished the season strong. When asked to reflect on the past season, Coach Matt explained that during this match, he was "pleased with the way our ladies behaved like champs in the face of a super challenging situation. They were all brave to step into the ring with such talent and come away with their heads held high!". Coach Matt is "extremely proud of the Super Six" and looks forward to returning to the court in the fall.
