Women's Tennis Falls Short to Fullerton, 5-4

CYPRESS, CA- The Cypress women's tennis team (0-5, 0-5 OEC) faced off against Fullerton College (3-0, 3-0 OEC) on Thursday afternoon. The Chargers had a close match against the Hornets but fell short, 5-4.

In the doubles matches, Victoria Gomes and Jayda Steele proved tough competition as they fell to competitors Haena So and Ashley Castro by only three sets. Freshman Anna-Gabrielle Sanders earned the lone singles victory for the Chargers (6-2, 4-6, 6-4) after taking her match-up with Sophia Sidiqi to three sets. Victoria Gomes took her opponent Ashley Castro to three sets after both players had a win under their belts going into the tie-breaking set. Despite the loss, the Chargers have been strong during each competition and continue to compete with a positive attitude. Jayda Steele showed her hustle as she charged the net and hit the ball cross-court and snuck it inside the line for an advantage over the Hornets.

UP NEXT: The Chargers will look for redemption and a chance to earn their first win on Thursday, April 29th as they host Fullerton at 2pm.
