Six Women’s Soccer Players Have Been Awarded All Conference Honors

CYPRESS, CA – The Orange Empire Conference has released the All-Conference teams for women's soccer for the 2022 season. Cypress has six selections; Presli Dillon, Siriana Gudiño and Alyssa Villalobos being named to the First Team while Celine Gehrig, Gabby Gutierrez and Christine Duarte have been named to the Second Team. Jassmin Ortiz was also named defensive MVP for the Orange Empire Conference.

Jassmin Ortiz- Defender

Jassmin Ortiz has been named the OEC Defensive Player-of-the-year honor. The highest status award a defender in the conference can receive, Ortiz played a vital role in the Chargers successful season. The leadership she brought to each game assisted Cypress in their 13 overall shutouts and ten against conference opponents. As a defender, she also applied pressure on opposing keepers, netting herself six goals and was perfect on penalty kick opportunities being 2-2. In Cypress's two playoff games, she played a physical defense which led to a playoff shutout and win. Her effort in the Chargers final game limited the strong attacks by the conference foe to only eight total shots. With only a small sample of 17 shots, she took advantage of her opportunities and landed 11 on goal for a team leading shots on goal percentage. Ortiz's year-long great defensive play and effort aided the Cypress Chargers to another impressive season. Her performance was appreciated by the Chargers and has now been recognized by Orange Empire Conference.

Presli Dillon- Defender

Starting in every game, Presli Dillon's exceptional defense aided the Chargers all season and her play is now being recognized by the OEC. Being a Captain on the team, Dillon also stated excellent offensive numbers. In the OEC individual stat leaders, she ranked fourth in assists with eight on the year. Her leadership and experience led the team to a First Round playoff win and another impressive season.

Siriana Gudiño- Goalkeeper

In goal for the Chargers, Siriana Gudiño has been elected to the All-OEC First Team. Gudino led Cypress all year long with her amazing goalkeeping and spectacular diving saves. Within the OEC stat leaders, she ranked third in both goals against and save percentage. Gudino delivered a shutout win in the First Round of the CCCAA playoffs and ended the season with 46 overall saves.

Alyssa Villalobos- Center Midfielder

A forward for Cypress, Alyssa Villalobos' consistent overall effort is being recognized by the OEC as she is being named to the All-Conference First Team. Named a team Captain, her offensive attacks helped put pressure on opposing goalkeepers which helped Cypress ultimately find the net. Villalobos's year performance led to four assists and six goals from her 22 shots.

Celine Gehrig- Center Midfielder

Only missing one start, Celine Gehrig's play at midfield greatly aided the Chargers all year long. Controlling the center of the field and taking leadership, Gehrig's effectiveness and execution was key to Cypress's success. While she tallied five assists and a goal, her team play and selflessness cannot be sought out in the statbook.

Gabriela Gutierrez - Defender

In the 2022 season, Gabriela Gutierrez defense helped Cypress to secure a First Round bye and be placed as the sixth seed for the CCCAA playoffs. Fending off ensuing opposing offensive attacks, Gutierrez applied a big boot to clear the ball from Cypress territory. Her timing and leadership helped Cypress earn 13 total shutouts and a playoff win.

Christine Duarte- Forward

Christine Duarte lit up the statbook in 2022 with her offensive performance.  Starting at forward for Cypress every game, she led the team in scoring with 11 goals with seven being against conference opponents. In one game, she found the net four times during the 8-0 victory over Irvine Valley. Duarte's team leading goals ranked her fifth amongst the entire Orange Empire Conference.
