CYPRESS, CA - Cypress College men's tennis standout Yubo Chen accepted an offer to play for the Concordia University Irvine Eagles in the PacWest Conference next season.
"I'm looking forward to having a nice season," said Chen. "I know the team has a pretty good ranking. I want to help get it higher."
Chen, who came from China to be a part of first year head coach Jeff Benito's tennis program, finished his freshman season 33rd in final California ITA rankings. He helped lead the Chargers to a Southern California Regional Final appearance as the team's No. 4 singles player and a member of the No. 2 doubles pair.
"Yubo did an amazing job and was a true team player for us here at Cypress," said Coach Jeff Benito. "I'm very proud of his accomplishment and for committing to Concordia University, Irvine. Coach Sanchez is getting a fine player."
Chen plans to major in business while attending CUI and would like to pursue a career in international business upon graduation.
