Blancaneaux Named Orange Empire Conference Player of the Year
By Wes McCurtis
The Cypress College men's tennis team is set to begin its postseason run on Tuesday as they host Glendale College in the CCCAA Southern California Regional 1st Round.
The Chargers received some individual recognition heading into the postseason as sophomore standout Maximilien Blancaneaux was named the 2017 Orange Empire Conference Player of the Year and doubles team, Maximilien Blancaneaux/Vincent Reynaud, were named the 2017 Orange Empire Co-Conference Doubles Team of the Year.
Blancaneaux/Reynaud will share the Conference Doubles Team of the Year award with Irvine Valley's Wyatt De Mulling/Chris Politiek.
"Max and Vincent have been the driving force of this team and their effort has helped revitalize this program," said Coach Jeff Benito. "They are the two most quality individuals I've ever had the opportunity to coach. Vincent has been with me for two years and is one of the hardest workers I know. Maximilien is the best player to date to have played at Cypress College. I am very appreciative that they both chose to come to Cypress College and play for me."
