CYPRESS, CA - The Orange Empire Conference has released the 2019 All-Conference teams for men's soccer. Nomar Ibarra, Lorenzo La Violette, Kian Aminloo, and Leonardo Mondragon were chosen to represent Cypress College.
Freshman Nomar Ibarra was selected to the First-Team after a stellar year for the Chargers. The midfielder made an immediate impact this season when he scored his first goal in the first road game of the season against Victor Valley in a 3-1 Chargers win. Nomar finished a fantastic year with 7 goals and 3 assists.
Forward Lorenzo La Violette was the next Charger selected for First-Team all-conference. The 6'4 sophomore has earned his second nod as an all-conference player after leading Cypress with 8 goals last season. Lorenzo topped his previous mark from last year scoring 9 goals, while also adding 5 assists in the 2019 season.
Freshman defender Kian Aminloo was a key factor for the Cypress defense this season. His strong effort landed him a spot on the Second-Team all-conference roster. The Chargers defense gave up a league leading low of 21 goals. Kian is from Beckman high school where he was a 2x MVP, 2x defensive player of the year, and First-Team all-league.
Goalkeeper Leonardo Mondragon was selected to Second-team all-conference after an excellent season in the net. The freshman captured 7 shutouts in 18 games this season. Leonardo finished the season strong saving 4 shots on goal in 1-0 Charger victory over Irvine Valley in the final regular season game of the year.
The Cypress College men's soccer team will continue their run as the No. 13 seed in the CCCAA playoffs. Cypress will travel to take on No. 4 seeded El Camino College on Saturday, November 23rd at 6:00pm.
