No. 8 Chargers Remain Unbeaten; Tie Palomar, 1-1

CYPRESS, CA- The Cypress College men’s soccer team (6-0-1) came out strong in Tuesday's game against the Palomar Comets (4-1-3). The Chargers took the lead within the first ten minutes of action, but would give up a second half equalizer as the game resulted in a 1-1 tie.

CYPRESS, CA- The Cypress College men's soccer team (6-0-1) came out strong in Tuesday's game against the Palomar Comets (4-1-3). The Chargers took the lead within the first ten minutes of action, but would give up a second half equalizer as the game resulted in a 1-1 tie.

Both sides brought their best defense to the match, making it difficult for either team to find the back of the net. A breakaway ball from sophomore, Connor Fitzgerald, found Lorenzo La Violette in the box to give Cypress a 1-0 lead (36:00). La Violette leads the Chargers with six goals in seven games this season.

Just after halftime, the Comets came back fighting to keep themselves in the game. In the 49^th minute of the match, Comets' sophomore forward, Arturo Soltero, took a deep shot from about 25 yards out and landed the ball just underneath the crossbar to tie the game, 1-1.

The remainder of the game consisted of tough defense with seven saves in the match by both teams and 14 corner kicks. After a few close plays on both ends of the field, neither side could put the game away, ending in a draw.

The men's soccer team will return to Ray Haas Field at Cypress College this Friday afternoon, September 27^th at 11:00am.
