NAPA, CA – The Cypress College men's golf team defended their 2018 State Championship Title in the 2019 CCCAA Men's Golf Championship hosted by Napa Valley College at Silverado Resort and Spa on Monday. This time the Chargers came up short, finishing third overall with a team score of 766 through 36 holes.

The Chargers posted identical team scores in both the morning and afternoon round (383), unable to keep pace with newly crowned Champion College of the Canyons. The Cougars held a 12-stroke lead over Cypress heading into the afternoon, but the Chargers were hopeful they could erase the deficit. However, the Cougars along with Santa Barbara City College would pull away in the afternoon round and finish ahead of the defending champs.

Orange Empire Conference Player of the Year, David Marris, hauled in All-State honors following his performance through 36 holes. Marris led the Chargers on the day, posting the sixth best score of the tournament, coming in at 3-over par (147).

The 2019 Orange Empire Conference Champions will look to reload for next season and try to make another run at a CCCAA Title.
