Chargers Advance to State Championship Tournament; Set to Defend CCCAA Men's Golf Title

CHINO HILLS, CA – The Southern California Men's Golf Regional took place on Monday at Los Serranos Golf Club. The Cypress College men's golf team took home a fourth place finish, advancing them on to defend their title at the 2019 CCCAA State Championships on Monday, May 13 at Silverado Spa and Resort in Napa, CA.

As a team, the Chargers finished 36 holes with a combined score of 740. After morning round, the Chargers were tied with College of the Canyons for first with a score of 360. The Chargers finished round two with a score of 380, the fourth lowest. 

Earning the lowest combined score for the Chargers was Dalton Davenport, who finished as a medalist, tied for the third best score of the tournament. Davenport shot 142 through two rounds; he shot a 72 in round one and a 70 in round two. Teammate, David Marris, had the second lowest score for the Chargers with a score of 146 through two rounds; he shot a 67 in round one and a 79 in round two.

Tee times are set to begin at 8:00am for the first round and at 1:30 pm start for the second round of the 36-hole event. Joining the Chargers in the tournament from Southern California is College of the Canyons, Mt. SAC, and Santa Barbara. Reedley, San Jose City, Folsom, and Fresno City are set to represent the North.
