Cypress Lands Ninth Shutout of the Season

CYPRESS, CA - Cypress women's soccer (12-4-2, 7-3-1 OEC) shutout Santa Ana College (2-14, 1-10 OEC) 2-0 on Halloween afternoon.

The Chargers scored their first goal from a header by Itzel Ramirez over the goalie that was set up from a long pass on the right side of the field by Samantha Armenta. Then, Cypress continued to pressure the Dons offensively as they collected 11 shots to none in the first half.

In the second half, Abigail Morales crossed the ball over to the middle of the box and found Carisia Raygoza open for a shot. Raygoza hit the ball and found the back of the net over the keeper and scored the Chargers second goal of the game. There were multiple opportunites for the Chargers to extend their lead as they collected 23 total shot attempts, but unfortunately the team did not connect. Santa Ana struggled to push the ball up the field pass the Chargers defensive line and ended the match with only one shot on goal. Cypress held the Dons to a scoreless match and landed their ninth shutout of the season. 

UP NEXT: The Chargers will host their final home game on Friday, November 3rd against the Golden West Rustlers. Kickoff is set at 3PM.
