Chargers Fly Past Jets, 2-0

SAN DIEGO, CA – The Cypress College women's soccer team (1-3) picked up their first win of the season in Friday's match-up on the road against San Diego Miramar, 2-0.

After struggling in three games up north to start the season, the Chargers bounced back with a big road win over the Jets before heading into Orange Empire Conference play this week.

Cypress dominated possession throughout, outshooting Miramar 6-2 for the game. Sophomore forward Kristen Nolan opened the scoring (32:00) on an assist from Kristin Avila, giving Cypress a 1-0 lead at the half.

The Chargers aggression paid off early in the second half as freshman defender Tabatha Macedo netted her first collegiate goal (43:00) on an assist from Mary Dynda.

Cypress' defense held off the Jets in the second half to maintain their first shutout of the season and go on to win, 2-0.

Women's soccer will open up Orange Empire Conference play against Golden West on Tuesday, September 12 at 3:00 pm.
