No. 6 Chargers Take Down No. 11 Warriors

CYPRESS, CA - Cypress Chargers softball (32-7, 16-4 OEC) secured a decisive victory over El Camino College (27-12, 15-5 SCC), winning with a final score of 7-2. 

The game started off with El Camino taking an early lead in the first inning, 1-0. Cypress at bat, quickly responded in the bottom of the first, with Julia Doan's sacrifice fly allowing Makayla Motis to score, tying the game at 1-1.

In the fourth inning, El Camino regained the lead with an RBI single, 2-1. However, Cypress answered back strongly in the bottom of the fourth, with Lizbeth Gomez's double bringing in two runs and putting Cypress ahead 3-2. Cypress continued to dominate the inning, with Nanea Kyle stealing second and Jazzy Lopez stealing home, extending Cypress' lead to 4-2. Makayla Motis then added to the Chargers lead with an RBI single, bringing in Kaitlyn Reynolds and extending the lead to 5-2. Jaylene Duarte's RBI single then brought in Julia Doan, further extending Cypress' lead to 6-2.

In the fifth inning, Julia Doan's double brought in Nanea Kyle, extending Cypress' lead to 7-2. El Camino was unable to respond in the remaining innings, and Cypress secured the victory.

UP NEXT: The Chargers will travel to Riverside City College to wrap up the Orange Empire Conference schedule. First pitch will be at 3:00 pm on Thursday, April 25.
