Series Sweep for the Chargers Against Saddleback College

CYPRESS, CA - Cypress Chargers softball (29-7, 14-4 OEC) swept the Saddleback Bobcats (11-19, 5-12 OEC) in a three-game series, 7-1.

The Cypress Chargers softball team put on a dominating performance in their three-game series against the Saddleback Bobcats, sweeping the series. In the third and final game of the series, Cypress started strong and never looked back, with a 6-0 run in the second inning.

The Chargers capitalized on the Bobcats mistakes for the first two runs of the game. Then, Freshman Nanea Kyle tripled to left field and brought in teammate Ashlynn Ortiz for the third run. Julia Doan then hit a remarkable inside-the-park homerun that brought in Kyle and extended the lead, 5-0. Starting Pitcher, Kaitlyn Reynolds wanted in on the action and followed Doan with a solo homerun over the left wall to cap off an explosive inning for the Chargers.

In the top of the sixth inning, Saddleback managed to get on the scoreboard. However, Cypress quickly answered back in the bottom of the sixth when Jaylene Duarte doubled down the left field line and brought in Mikala Jacobsen to secure the win for Cypress, 7-1.

UP NEXT: The Chargers will finish conference-play with a series against the Riverside City Tigers. Cypress will host the first game of the series on Monday, April 22. First pitch will be at 3pm.
