Chargers Take 11th out of 16

WALNUT, Calif. --- The Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving teams both took 11th place out of 16 schools that competed in the Mt. Sac Invitational over the weekend.

Esther Kim was the standout for the women's team over the weekend.  Kim accumulated 34 points for the Chargers and dominated in multiple events.

Kim placed sixth out of 43 swimmers in the 100 yard breaststroke and placed 10th out of 31 competitors in the 100 yard butterfly on Friday, February 21.

Esther Kim continued to lead Cypress in day two of the event, finishing fifth in the 200 fly with a solid time of (2:43.02).

Aimee Espey also continued her success this season and placed seventh out of 120 swimmers in the 50 Free with a very respectable time of (26.01).

Both Espey and Kim combined for 52 of the Chargers 64 point finish.

 

Isaac Lee (12) and Mason Pauu (11) contributed 23 points in the men's 11th place finish.

Lee scored an impressive 113.15 in the 1 Meter Diving event while Pauu recorded an even 100 in the 1M Dive. 

Jack Corrigan clocked a (1:02.73) in the 100 Yard Backstroke and touched the wall 12th out of 41 swimmers for Cypress.  Corrigan also finished 52nd out of 100 swimmers in the 50 Yard Free (24.89).

Daniel Cavender (7), Dylan Lau (9), and Garrett Spoon (1), helped round out the rest of the Charger scoring.

The Chargers will hit the pool again this week to prepare for Orange Coast on Friday, February 28.  The event will take place at Golden West College and will start at 1:00 PM.
