RIVERSIDE, Calif. --- Both the Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving teams hit the pool this past weekend in Riverside for a Dual Meet vs. Santa Ana, Riverside, and Golden West.

Despite dropping their matches vs. Riverside and Golden West, the Women's team showed a lot of positivity in their meet against Santa Ana College.  The Lady Chargers defeated the Dons by a score of 162-40 to gain their first OEC victory of the season.

Aimee Espey was the big story on the women's side.  The Freshman placed second out of 11 swimmers in the 50 Yard Freestyle with an impressive time of 24.49.

Espey also placed second out of eight competitors in the 100 Yard Freestyle (58.96).

Esther Kim placed third out of eight in the 100 Yard Breaststroke for the Lady Chargers.

The Men's Team fell short against Santa Ana, Riverside, and Golden West but still showed a lot of promising signs.

Luis Benitez, Daniel Cavender, Dylan Lau and Garrett Spoon placed sixth out of eight in the 400 Yard Medley relay (4:14.71), but they were less than a second shy from passing up Santa Ana (4:14.58) and Riverside (4:14.05) to take the fourth place spot.

"Aimee and Esther were standouts for the women, we're a team that will always improve and continue to train hard," said Head Coach Larry Beidler.

"I couldn't be happier with the group of kids that I have and I see some really good things coming."

The Chargers will hit the water once again on February 21st at the Mt. Sac Invitational.
