Cypress Chargers Women’s Water Polo Wraps Up 2024 Season
Chargers Secure Postseason Spot and Individual Honors in Coach Julia Reyes’ Debut Year
CYPRESS, CA – The Cypress College Women's Water Polo team concluded an impressive 2024 season with a 13-12 overall record and a 1-4 conference record, earning fourth place in the Orange Empire Conference (OEC) standings. The team advanced to the 3C2A SoCal Regional Quarterfinals, showcasing resilience and talent under first-year Head Coach Julia Reyes.
Several standout performances highlighted the Chargers' season, earning recognition within the highly competitive OEC:
- Jillian Van Gemert: Ranked No. 3 in the OEC in Goals (95), Jillian earned Second-Team All-Conference honors and was named Charger of the Week once this season.
- Karly Lepel: Ranked No. 5 in the OEC in Goals (70), Karly received an OEC Honorable Mention and was also named Charger of the Week during the season.
- Brooke Shiohama: Ranked No. 3 in the OEC for Assists (43), playing a key role in the Chargers' offensive success.
- Marilyn Rodriguez: Recognized with an OEC Honorable Mention for her significant contributions throughout the season.
