Cypress Women's Volleyball Splits Matches on Opening Day

PASADENA, CA - Cypress women's volleyball opened their season with a double-header at Pasadena City College on August, 26th. The Chargers led with a victory over Mt. San Jacinto (3-0) before their loss against the Pasadena Lancers (3-1).

The Chargers Sophomore's, Mikayla Kadowaki (14 assists), Kaelie Tulette (10 kills), and Zoe Munn (12 digs) led the team to a hard fought victory and handed Mt. San Jacinto their first loss of the season in 3 sets (27-25, 25-18, 29-27).

Cypress seeked to keep their momentum going in the second match, leading with 4 points in a row in the first set against Pasadena City College. The Lancers fought back to tie the game, 7-7, until Sophomore Kaelie Tulette answered with a kill to break the draw. The Chargers followed with 3 more points just before the Lancers scored again. The first set resulted with a 25-15 Charger victory over the Lancers.

After the first set, the Chargers struggled with repeated errors that were difficult to come back from and the Lancers took advantage to win the next 3 sets (13-25, 17-25, 13-25). 

UP NEXT: The Chargers travel to LA Mission College on Labor Day weekend for the 2nd Annual Kickoff Classic. First match is on Friday, September 2nd at 10:00am against Citrus College.
