Cypress – The Chargers (2-0) closed out the Ventura College Classic in dominant fashion with a 3-0 victory over San Diego Miramar thanks to two goals from freshman Kristin Avila.

At 14:30, Avila scored the opening goal thanks to an assist from freshman Taylor Jones. Less than 7 minutes later, Cypress won a penalty in the opposing box and Avila slotted the penalty kick to double the lead.

Towards the 41st minute, Layla Silva (So) put the game away thanks to an assist from Gissel Avila (Fr). The Chargers maintained their lead throughout the second half, managing to hold the Jets scoreless. Paulina Serna (So) earned her second consecutive clean sheet thanks to a solid defensive performance by the team as well as her four saves.

The Chargers will face Foothill College on the road Friday, September 4th. Their game will start at 4 p.m. PST.
