Huntington Beach – The Cypress women's soccer team suffered its first loss of the season on Tuesday, falling on the road at Golden West 2-1. Despite the loss, the women (9-1-4) continue to stand in second-place in the Orange Empire Conference with a record of 6-1-3. Golden West is now 5-3-2 in OEC games and 7-4-3 overall.
Cypress wasted no time getting on the board, scoring its only goal of the game just over a minute into the action. Jade Perez connected with Karla Lopez, who scored her fourth goal of the season. The Chargers would continue to hold a 1-0 through the halftime break.
Just seconds into the second half, Golden West scored the equalizer as the two teams battled back and forth for the remainder of the half. In extra time, Golden West scored the game-winner, handing Cypress a tough 2-1 loss.
The Chargers return home on Friday, Oct. 24 to face Santa Ana (2-8-3, 1-5-3 OEC) at 3:00 pm.
