Cypress, CA- The Cypress women's basketball (16-4, 5-1 OEC) team hosted Golden West (3-15, 0-6 OEC) on Wednesday night at Don Johnson Court. The Charger's bounced back in big way, beating the Rustlers by 25.
Cypress got out to an early, 23-11, lead in the first quarter by sharing the ball and turning defense to offense. Golden West fought back in the second quarter to tie the game up at thirty. Pressila Blanco stayed hot scoring 17 points in the first half, fresh off her first Charger of the Week award. After a llackadaisical second quarter, the Chargers came out of halftime clicking on all cylinders and broke the game open. Jessica Barrow knocked down two three pointers in the 4th quarter to push the score to, 80-56. The Rustlers struggled to slow down the Cypress fastbreak all night as the Chargers coasted to their sixteenth victory of the season.
Up Next- Cypress will travel to Riverside on Friday to take on the Tigers at 5pm. This is a crucial matchup for the Chargers as they currently sit in second place in the OEC.
