CYPRESS, CA - Cypress men's basketball (11-13, 6-6 OEC) defeated the Saddleback Bobcats (13-11, 6-6 OEC), 54-45.
The first half saw Cypress take an early lead, outscoring Saddleback 27-20. Ja'Shawn Chisel was on fire behind the arc with three made 3-pointers in a row. Mark Onyejekwe and Peyton Guerrero were also key contributors for the Chargers, combining for 10 points in the first half.
Chargers sophomore, Onyejekwe took control on the offensive end with a strong attack to the basket to start the second half scoring. Then, stole the ball at half court and dunked on the fastbreak to extend the lead for Cypress 37-22 later in the remaining half. Saddleback attempted a comeback, outscoring Cypress 25-27 in the half. However, their efforts were not enough to overcome the deficit from the start of the game.
