Chargers Close Out Santa Ana at Home, 81-68; Playoff Hopes Alive

CYPRESS, CA – The Cypress College men's basketball team (17-9, 6-4 OEC) put on a strong performance during Tuesday night's home victory over Santa Ana College (8-18, 2-8 OEC), 81-68. The Chargers shot lights-out from beyond the arc, going 10-for-23 on the night, while also capitalizing on 16 Santa Ana turnovers resulting in 23 Cypress points.

Cypress took control midway through the first half, using a 23-9 run to take a 34-20 lead at halftime. Santa Ana managed to outscore the Chargers by one point in the second half, but it would not be enough.

Freshman guard Kamron Barnes notched his second double-double of the season, leading all scorers with an efficient 22 points on 8-of-11 shooting, while snagging 12 rebounds on the night in just 22 minutes of game action. Sophomores Mike Magee and Kyle Small each added 13 points.

The Chargers close out the regular season with two huge home games, beginning with a showdown on Thursday against the No. 2 Fullerton Hornets, followed by a match up against No. 22 Santiago Canyon on Wednesday, February 20. Both games are set to tip-off at 5:00pm in Gym II.
