HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA- The Cypress College beach volleyball team (9-4-1, 1-0 OEC) opened up Orange Empire Conference play with a 5-0 victory over the Orange Coast College Pirates (3-5, 0-1 OEC) at Newland Courts on Friday afternoon.
The Chargers finished without dropping a single game to the Pirates. The No.1 pairing of Rockelle Gholson and Paulina Akiona won a tough match-up against Megan Ritchie and Jadelyn Forgiarini to start the day (21-19, 21-15). The No. 2 pair, Samantha Madrid and Paige Buchanan, saw their hot streak continue with a victory to end the day over OCC's Measha Lindstrand and Sierra Lim (21-10, 21-13).
Beach Volleyball will return to action in Huntington Beach against Santa Ana on Wednesday, March 29 at 2:00 p.m.
