CYPRESS, CA - The Cypress College Athletics Department has signed a partnership agreement with Return On Inclusion (ROI), which delivers online sport-specific diversity and inclusion education to coaches, administrators and staff in college athletic departments.
"Through this collaboration our athletics staff, coaches, and leadership will work to enhance how we serve our diverse community of student-athletes, coaches, and staff," Athletic Director & Associate Dean, Kinesiology Wes McCurtis said. "This is an intentional step for athletics to continue our commitment to excellence and improve our approach to equity, diversity, and inclusion."
By participating with ROI, the Cypress College Athletics Department will positively impact team chemistry and the overall experience of our student-athletes. ROI employs a six-module curriculum that provides participants the opportunity to implement ROI at their institution and experience personal and professional growth together as a department. The coursework includes self-reflection exercises, case studies, best practices, knowledge retention quizzes and discussion guides for group participation.
Participants will receive instruction on the following topics:
- Diversity, Inclusion & Belonging Foundations
- Cultural Competence & Managing Relationships
- Overcoming Bias, Micro-aggressions & Covering
- Unpacking Racism, Anti-Racism & Privilege
- LGBTQ+ Inclusion & Gender Stereotypes
- Inclusive Leadership & Strategic Plan Development
