Charger Women's Basketball Alum, Ashley Hawkins, Earns Multiple Big South Conference Awards

BOILING SPRINGS, NC - Ashley Hawkins, a standout player for the Cypress Women's Basketball program during the 2022-23 season, has been named to the Big South All-Conference First-Team, Big South Newcomer of the Year, and the Scholar Athlete of the Year at NCAA Division 1 Gardner-Webb University.

Hawkins' remarkable season with the Bulldogs included scoring 439 points and tallying 164 assists. She led the conference with an average of 5.7 assists per game and ranked third with an average of 15.1 points per game. Her dedication to excellence on and off the court is evident, as she maintained an exceptional 3.95 GPA as a management major.

Prior to her time at Gardner-Webb University, Hawkins made a significant impact at Cypress College. She was named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) for the Orange Empire Conference (OEC) and received the Offensive Player of the Year award. Hawkins was also honored with a First Team All-State selection. Her exceptional performance on the court led to her topping multiple Chargers single-season records. Hawkins set a new record for field goals attempted, ranked second in points scored, and landed third in free throws made. Additionally, she cracked the top ten in free throws attempted, free throw percentage, and fourth in field goals made. At the conclusion of her time with the Chargers, Hawkins finished second in career scoring average with an impressive 23.1 points per game.

The Cypress College Athletics department is incredibly proud of Ashley Hawkins and her outstanding achievements this season.
