CYPRESS, CA – Michelle Navarro has been named the new Cypress College Sports Information/Marketing Representative, according to Cypress College Athletic Director, Wes McCurtis. The appointment comes following a comprehensive national search.
Michelle will be responsible for managing all marketing and communications for Cypress College's 14 intercollegiate sports, including social media and website management, game management, branding, content creation, and statistics. "Michelle is going to help elevate the Cypress College Athletics brand as well as highlight the many achievements of our student-athletes," said McCurtis. "Her ability to collaborate with both community and campus organizations sets her apart. I am confident that her abilities will make a positive impact on the student-athlete experience here at Cypress," he added.
Michelle is a Long Beach State University graduate, where she earned a B.A. degree in Psychology. While at Long Beach, she served as the Youth & Adult Sports Activity Specialist for the City of Downey Parks & Recreation Department, where she helped grow the city's Youth Athletic programs through her marketing efforts, community partnerships, and re-organization of youth camps and leagues. In 2019, she interned with the WNBA LA Sparks organization in Youth Basketball Operations where she assisted the Jr. Sparks community outreach program.
She is currently a Master's candidate in the Long Beach State Sport Management program. She recently completed a Sports Information internship during the 2021-2022 athletic season at Cypress College. Michelle has a strong background in marketing, graphic design, event management, and community engagement, which will prove to benefit Cypress College Athletics for years to come.
