
Chargers Face Familiar Faces at 2nd OEC Meet
Chargers Take Fourth in 2nd OEC Meet
RIVERSIDE, CA -Cypress College saw amazing performances at the second Orange Empire Conference meet of the year. The Cypress Women's Team came up in 4th place with a 151 team score.
Leading the charge was Isabelle Neri who tied for the most points with 34 for the team. Neri competed in her specialties the 100 yard IM, 400 yard IM, and 200 yard butterfly. Neri took 1st place in her 200 yard fly with a time of 1:58.71. In her 400 IM she posted a time of 5:38.35 cementing a top 5 finish. Following Neri was Joanna Cruz who competed in both the 1M and 3M dive. Cruz put up some impressive scores including a 125.45 and a 141.65 securing second place in both events. Karly Lepel stayed consistent competing in the 200 yard freestyle, 100 back, and 200 back. Lepel finished top 10 in each of her races showcasing her powerful turnover rate and fast kicking ability. Lepel had times of 1:13.63 and 2:36.17 in her 100 and 200 back dropping significant time from what she was seeded. Lastly, Marilyn Rodriguez also dropped time in her 100 yard breaststroke earning a 1:27.84. This allowed her to finish in the top 10. The Chargers will have a chance to race their conference rivals at the end of the season and look to keep the strong momentum going
