Cypress Chargers Softball Shuts Out LA Mission Eagles 3-0 on Opening Day
Chargers Combine Early Offense and Dominant Pitching to Secure Victory
CYPRESS, CA - The Cypress Chargers kicked off the 2025 softball season with a commanding 3-0 victory over the LA Mission Eagles on Opening Day.
The Chargers wasted no time getting on the board in the bottom of the first inning. Leadoff hitter Nanea Kyle drew a walk and quickly showcased her speed by stealing second base. Carly Parmenter delivered with a single that brought Kyle home, giving Cypress an early 1-0 advantage.
In the bottom of the fourth, the Chargers' energy surged when Mickayla Galaviz smacked a double down the left field line. Galaviz advanced to third on a passed ball before coming home on a sacrifice fly by Madylyn Wynia to extend the lead to 2-0.
Cypress continued their offensive push in the fifth inning. Kyle, who reached base for the second time in the game, crossed home plate again when Makayla Motis sent a powerful double over the center fielder. The hit not only brought the Chargers' lead to 3-0 but also cemented Kyle's impact on both ends of the field.
The Eagles looked to mount a comeback in the top of the seventh inning, putting two runners on base. However, Cypress pitcher Haley Tucker held her composure. With two outs and the Eagles' last batter at the plate, Tucker induced a fly ball to right-center field. Kyle raced in to secure the catch, recording the final out and preserving the shutout.
UP NEXT: The Chargers will travel to Mt. San Antonio College on Wednesday, February 5 at 2:00pm.
