Chargers Will Host Ventura Pirates for Super Regionals

CYPRESS, CA- Cypress softball (36-6) is set to host the Ventura Pirates for a three-game series in the 3C2A Super Regionals.

The No. 3 seed Chargers were successful in taking the first two games against the No. 14 seed Pasadena City Lancers to start postseason play. Both games came down to the final inning as the Cypress clutch bats prevailed to come out on top of both one run endings.

The Chargers next contender is the No. 6 seed Ventura Pirates who will visit Cypress College on Thursday, May 11th. The Pirates are coming off a series win in which they dropped the first game to the No. 11 seed El Camino Warriors. Ventura recovered from the game one loss, with a one run victory to push a rubber match. Then capped the series win with a 13-0 blowout finale to advance to the Super Regionals.

Similar to the Chargers, Ventura ended their regular season atop the Western State Conference with a record of 31-8-1. The Pirates only lost to one WSC opponent, Allan Hancock, and finished the season with a 14-1 conference record.

The two teams have met once in the 2023 season as the Chargers defeated the Pirates 5-0 at Cypress College for a multi-team event. Since then, both teams have won their conference, a 3C2A playoff series and are now looking to advance to the State Tournament.
