Chargers Advance to Round 2 of OEC Tournament Defeating Golden West, 11-3

CYPRESS, CA- The Cypress Chargers (18-7, 16-5 OEC) defeated Golden West (0-25, 0-25 OEC) in round one of the OEC Tournament on Wednesday afternoon, 11-3. Cypress will travel to Santa Ana to take on the Dons on Thursday for a semi-final matchup.

Alyssa Huerta (3-for-4) led the Chargers with three RBI's. Jordan Thompson (4-for-5, 2 RBI) led Cypress with four hits. Emily Adkison (1-for-4, 1 RBI), Camryn Addimando (0-for-3, 1 RBI), Eliza Sandoval (1-for-4, 2 RBI), Cameron Curiel (1-for-3), and Eliana Mora (1-for-3) all scored a run for Cypress. Aubry New won her fourth game on the mound after throwing six innings and only giving up four hits. Golden West's, Sennie Viramontes (1-for-3), led the Rustlers in RBIs with two.

The Chargers started strong scoring seven runs in the bottom of the first inning. Emily Adkison got the scoring started with single to left field driving in Jordan Thompson. Eliza Sandoval followed, knocking in two runs after singling to right field allowing Paige Shafer and Emily Adkison to score. Eliana Mora, doubled to left field and scored Camryn Addimando. In the bottom of the fourth the Chargers led 8-1 when Natalie Rodriguez singled with the bases loaded to put another run on the board for Cypress. Alyssa Huerta doubled in the bottom of the fifth to stretch the Cypress lead to 10-3. Jordan Thompson ended the game in the sixth inning with a single up the middle bringing in Emily Wagenbrenner and pushing the Chargers lead to eight. 

UP NEXT: Cypress will travel to Santa Ana (18-7, 18-6 OEC) tomorrow for a semi-final matchup against the Dons. The first pitch will be at 2pm.
