Chargers Fall to Dons, 2-1

CYPRESS, CA- The Cypress men's soccer team (8-5-5, 5-3-2 OEC) lost to the Santa Ana Dons (9-5-5, 5-3-2 OEC) on Friday afternoon, 2-1.

The Dons opened the match with a quick goal to lead the Chargers 1-0. Then, the Chargers answered with a goal to tie the game 1-1 within the first six minutes of the play. Each team battled aggressively as the Chargers gathered 15 fouls against Santa Ana's 12.

Both teams created equal amount of chances to score in the second half with 4 shots on goal for each team. At the 87th minute, the Dons broke the Chargers defense and scored past the keeper to advance 2-1. Cypress tried to push the ball when the official added extra time, however the Chargers were unsuccessful. 

In extra time, the Dons were sent to the penalty box and Cypress keeper, Alex Felix, denied the attempt. Therefore, the match ended 2-1.

UP NEXT: The Chargers will travel to Orange Coast College on Tuesday, November 8th. Match will begin at 3PM.
