CYPRESS, CA - The Cypress College men's soccer team (4-6, 1-3) defeated Norco College (1-7-2, 0-4-0) 2-0 at home on Tuesday to collect their first conference win of the season.

The first half started off slowly as it took about ten minutes for both the Chargers and Norco to get into the game. Norco came out pressing the ball but the Chargers were able to keep possession and generate some good scoring opportunities. Cypress midfielder Eduardo Chavez had back-to-back scoring opportunities in the span of one minute. The first was headed just wide of the goal and the second was saved by Norco goalie Jose Amaya. Chavez continued to be the most dangerous player going forward as he had two more opportunities saved by Amaya in the first half. Norco had one good look at the goal in the first half but Cypress keeper Braydon Welch was able to reach out and make an impressive save to keep it scoreless at halftime.

The Chargers started the second half by pressing Norco and aggressively going forward. Late in the game Cypress midfielder Brandon Dunn had a great opportunity to put the game away on a breakaway, but was unable to get off a shot. A couple of minutes later It would be Toledo again providing a great ball into the box, which Chavez put past the keeper (86:54) to give the Chargers a 2-0 lead and the put the game out of reach.
