Chargers Fall to Santiago Canyon 2-1

Cypress- The Cypress College men's soccer team (3-13-1, 1-9 OEC) lost to Santiago Canyon (7-4-6, 5-2-3 OEC) 2-1 at home on Friday afternoon.

Santiago Canyon won the time of possession battle enabling them to outshoot Cypress 12 shots to 8 shots. Kyle Pizano got the scoring started early just 15 minutes into the game. He was able to knife in between Cypress defenders and get the ball by the goalie.

In the 37th minute, the Chargers tied the game when Hawe Yonas connected on the equalizing goal. Yonas shook his defender and had just enough room to get off the shot. The score would remain tied after the first half.

It only took Santiago Canyon two minutes into the second half to take the lead when freshman Gilberto Sotelo found the back of the net. Cypress had their chances to tie the game owning a corner kick advantage, 5-2, however the bounce never seemed to go their way. The score would not change the rest of the game and Santiago Canyon won the game 2-1.

Cypress College's next game is on Tuesday, November 3rd at 3pm at Fullerton College.
