Cypress Men’s Golf Claims First Victory of the Season at Costa Mesa Country Club
Chargers Secure First Victory of the Season, Climbing in Conference Standings
COSTA MESA, CA – The Cypress College Men's Golf team secured their first first-place finish of the season in a hard-fought conference matchup at Costa Mesa Country Club on Wednesday, March 19. The Chargers edged out host Orange Coast College by four strokes, finishing with a team score of 356, while OCC followed closely behind at 360.
Individually, Vincent Quintero delivered his best performance of the season, shooting an impressive 66, which placed him among the top five scorers of the day. Alex Mascaro and James Luther both posted strong rounds of 71, marking a season-best for Mascaro. DJ Blas also had a standout performance, matching his best score of the year with a 74, while Grant Muhlenbruch contributed with a solid 76.
The Chargers have been consistently competing in the top three in each conference matchup this season, and their team score of 356 is the lowest and most impressive to date. Quintero continues to lead Cypress individually, currently holding the runner-up spot in the conference standings, with Luther also ranked in the top 10.

With this breakthrough victory, Cypress is now tied for second place in the conference standings, and with plenty of matches remaining in the season, the Chargers look to build on their momentum as they continue their quest for a conference title.
