Cypress Baseball Series Victory Over Orange Coast

CYPRESS, CA - Cypress Baseball (19-13-1, 5-9 OEC) defeated the Orange Coast Pirates for the series win (13-20, 7-7 OEC), 13-4.


Cypress baseball opened game two against Orange Coast College in impressive fashion, hitting three home runs in the bottom of the first inning. Evan Rolbiecki started the scoring with a two-run homer, bringing Jack Burke across the plate. Shortly after, Luca Arenado added to the lead with a two-run blast, scoring Albert de La Rosa. The onslaught continued as Robert Pitts Jr. launched a solo homer, further solidifying Cypress's early dominance in the game, 5-0.

In the bottom of the second inning, the Chargers continued to apply pressure, maintaining their 5-0 lead over the Orange Coast Pirates. Burke started the inning with a swinging strikeout. However, Rolbiecki kept the momentum going with a single through the left side. Ryan Skjonsby then walked, advancing Rolbiecki to second base. De La Rosa capitalized on the opportunity, hitting a double down the left field line, bringing Skjonsby to third and Rolbiecki home, extending Cypress's lead. Despite De La Rosa's efforts, the inning ended with Arenado hitting into a fielder's choice, resulting in De La Rosa being out at second and Skjonsby being out at third in a double play.


In the bottom of the seventh inning, the Cypress baseball team exploded with a 7-0 run, showcasing their offensive prowess. It all started with Darin Chapman drawing a walk, which brought Nathan Jackle to second base and Pitts Jr. to third base, while Jacob Elliott scored. Burke then walked, bringing Chapman to second, Jackle to third, and allowing Pitts Jr. to score. Rolbiecki followed with a single to shortstop, bringing in Burke and Chapman, and advancing Jackle. Not stopping there, Skjonsby hit a double down the left field line, bringing in Rolbiecki. The inning concluded with Elliott hitting a sacrifice fly to center field, bringing in Skjonsby. The Chargers' explosive performance in the bottom of the seventh inning solidified the series victory for Cypress, 13-4. 

UP NEXT: The Chargers will travel to Orange Coast College on Friday, April 12 for the third and final game of the series. First pitch is set at 1:00 PM.
