Former Charger David Huff Pitching for Team USA at Pan Am Games

Cypress College Hall of Famer David Huff has found his way into the pitching rotation for the USA National Team at the Pan Am Games. Huff was a standout for the Chargers back in 2005 before transferring to UCLA.

Huff has waited a long time for the chance to represent his country and is taking full advantage of the opportunity. He saw his first Pan Am action in a matchup against Puerto Rico on July 11th where he threw two shutout innings in a 10-9 loss. Huff saw an additional two innings of action in relief on July 13th in the 5-3 victory over Colombia. As a veteran on this year's team, it is expected that Huff will continue to make an impact moving forward. Team USA is scheduled to take the field again on July 15th when they face Nicaragua.

Huff was selected 39th overall in the 1st round of the 2006 MLB Draft and won the Minor League Player of the Year Award with the Akron Aeros in 2008. Huff reached the Major League in 2009 and spent parts of five seasons with the Cleveland Indians. Since 2013, Huff has made Major League appearances with the New York Yankees, San Francisco Giants, and Los Angeles Dodgers. However, Huff is currently playing in the minors for the Oklahoma City Dodgers awaiting his chance to return to the Major League.
