Chargers Sweep Weekend Conference Matchups
LONG BEACH, CA – The Cypress College Women's Beach Volleyball team took on Santa Ana College and Irvine Valley College during the weekend. The Chargers swept the competition going a perfect 2-0 against their conference opponents. After the dominant performances, the Chargers move to a 4-2 OEC record and 5-5 overall on the season.
In the opening match against Irvine Valley, Cypress started with a loss in the first set, but came back 4-1 to beat the Lasers. The Chargers' other pairs secured victories, Sydney Jackson and Kaylin Hanley, finished with a strong showing, clinching the win with a decisive 21-12 finish in the final set. The 2's pair, Hailey Church and Hannah Higuera, also dominated their sets with a 21-19 score first and secured the match in the second set, 21-10.
Against Santa Ana College, the Chargers continued their stellar performances, winning all 5 sets. The 3 pair of Amanda Kalpakoff and Jasmine Kastner faced the toughest battle out of the team going all three sets. They lost a close match 19-21 but then came back with resiliency in the second set winning 21-10. The third set was even more thrilling with the Chargers taking the win with 15-13.
UP NEXT: The Chargers look to improve their overall record to 6-5 for when they travel to Santa Monica College to play Lassen College on Wednesday, March 26th.
